Resistance Training

workout i am working up to:

i believe that a disciplined mind and body are key to movement building work. i read and meditate on the work of Audre Lorde as part of my practice. It has been a journey for me to understand that self-care and self-love are essential strategies for us to cultivate healthy resistance to the domination of hegemony. Audre speaks my language y’all, even when i am being too stubborn to want to hear it. She reminds me, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” self-care is a very challenging concept for me, a majority of my bodily experiences have been shaped by the violences of oppression. My physical trauma runs pretty deep, so i understand this idea of battling, and it resonates with me. And i truly believe mis compañeros, we are at war. we need to cultivate spaces where people can just be, to exist in their bodies without threat or actualized violence. In working towards that world, we must actively train for the war at hand. We need healthy and strong minds and bodies, we need soldiers who are grounded in the revolutionary practice of love. This page will have my training regimen, recipes, and meditations that serve me in this daily battle we are engaged in. Salute!
